Sam McIver
Sam has been CEO of Beef + Lamb New Zealand since April 2016. He is also the CEO of the New Zealand Meat Board, the organisation that manages and administers sheepmeat and beef export quotas on behalf of the New Zealand industry.
Sam has a career spanning the agri-food sector from farm to retail. Prior to joining B+LNZ he was the CEO of Preston Corp Ltd a logistics, meat processing, wholesaling and retailing company and CEO of industry good organisation New Zealand Pork.
Sam previously worked for B+LNZ’s predecessor organisation Meat & Wool New Zealand as the Research and Development Manager and Product and Information Transfer Manager. He has also held roles with OSPRI managing New Zealand’s cattle and deer traceability scheme and with Heinz Wattie in vegetable production and processing. He began his career as a Farm Management Consultant working with sheep and beef farmers.
Sam has undergraduate and post-graduate qualifications in Agriculture and Business including an MBA. He is an experienced director and Chartered member of NZ Institute of Directors.
Sam resides in Wellington New Zealand with wife Sarah and their three teenagers.
